Bella

Bella is a collection of three watercolored Irises inspired by Gloria Jean Watkins. Watkins, better known by her pen name Bell Hooks, is an instrumental advocate for equality across race and gender. Bella depicts three irises of different kinds: the northern blue flag iris, the bearded iris, and the iris pumila from left to right. The piece represents humanity and how all people have equal value, despite our varying outward appearances. Bella is meant to serve as a reminder that our differing beauty should be celebrated, not scrutinized or marginalized.
